Lawrie Margrave

I began photographing at the age of three when I was given an old Kodak camera by my grandfather. It was a simple box camera that I could easily disassemble and put back together again, which I did on a daily basis! Of course, there was no film in the camera but I took millions of pictures...... sort of like we do now with our digital cameras!

Although I have always been interested in all aspects of photography, I have been an event photographer specializing in English and Western horse shows since 1997. It is now 2008 and time to retire from the show arena unless I am looking for fine art images or shooting exclusively for a group.

My path has turned in the direction of Barn shoots, Location Portraits and images for website development. People and animals touch me very deeply...... creating images that reflect their inner beauty and strength....... that is my passion.

Quote

"So often one hears the word 'capture' to describe how a photograph is made; I prefer to think in terms of 'freeing' what I see and adding a new facet for contemplation. Whether photographing a large event, a child playing, or a simple flower, I use natural light to enhance textures, create drama and illuminate the essence of what I see in my mind and through the viewfinder. The journey is complete when the images are shared with you."
